Orlando’s New and Upcoming Hotels

Waldorf Astoria OrlandoOrlando continues to rapidly expand its inventory of more than 115,000 hotel rooms, with numerous properties recently opening across the destination. These appeal to both leisure and business travelers, with upscale amenities and amazing on-site restaurants, lounges and golf options. Many other accommodations have completed, or are in the process of, renovations.

Lake Buena Vista/Walt Disney World Resort

The Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek and the Waldorf Astoria® Orlando, adjacent to each other and surrounded by the Walt Disney World Resort®, are now open. The Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek is the largest project in the company’s history and includes 1,101 rooms and 122,000 square feet of meeting space. The Waldorf Astoria Orlando provides 498 rooms and 30,000 square feet of space. Both properties share access to the 24,000 square-foot Waldorf Astoria Spa by Guerlain®, the Rees Jones-designed 18-hole championship golf course and numerous restaurants.

Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa has opened a new six-story, 61,000-square-foot building. Its completion brings the size of the condo-hotel to a total of five buildings with nearly 500 two- and three-bedroom units. The new building features a reception lobby; 9,000-square-foot signature health spa and salon; 18 upgraded condo-hotel units with accommodations for in-room spa services and space for an 8,000 square-foot restaurant.

The Blue Heron Beach Resort is a recently opened condo-hotel located on Lake Baron in Lake Buena Vista. The resort offers one- and two-bedroom suites that include a full kitchen, dining room, living room, bunk beds and a balcony that overlooks Lake Baron. Guests have access to watersports such as jet skis from the property’s dock, and a nature trail with pavilions.

International Drive

The Hilton Orlando, located at the south-end of the Orange County Convention Center, is now open. The 18-story hotel connects to the South Concourse of the Orange County Convention Center via a pedestrian sky bridge.

The Rosen Plaza Hotel completed a multi-million dollar renovation of its 60,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including the 26,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom, 22 meeting rooms and two permanent meeting rooms. The hotel also replaced all of the beds and linens throughout its 800 rooms.

The Peabody Orlando will expand its current convention hotel property on International Drive. The project will add a 31-story tower that will include 750 rooms and 145,000 square feet of meeting space. Among its amenities will be a full-service spa, boutiques and shops, a biking trail and an English garden. It is expected to open during late 2010.
